CharmCard™ Benefits

As an MTA CharmCard™ test participant, you’ll enjoy a faster, easier and more secure way to purchase rides on MTA. Instead of using a paper or plastic farecard, you’ll simply touch your CharmCard™ to the circular targets located on Metro Subway faregates. This signals the fare collection system that you are entering the system. After your ride, you will touch your card again on the circular target. Instantly, the fare for your ride is deducted from the card and you are on your way.

Loading cash value or a Day, 7-Day or 30-Day pass product to your CharmCard™ can be accomplished at any MTA Metro Subway station TVM. You can add up to $200 cash value to your card, which means you only need to reload as needed. Or, you can add a pass product for unlimited rides during the designated pass period either one day, 7 days or 30 days.

Unlike weekly and monthly passes that begin on a set day (Sunday for a weekly pass) or date (first day of the month through the last day of the month for a monthly pass), 7-Day and 30-Day passes begin on the day you initially use the pass product.
